Nick McGlashan was born on August 1, 1988, in the state of Alaska, which is a huge fishing community. In Alaska, fishing is a very common job and really, it is already a way of life.
He was born into a fishing family and his father, Bruce Lanford, is a veteran fisherman. He began working on a boat when he was just 13 years old. He worked in Akutan, Alaska and the fishing hub of Dutch Harbor.
He was named after his great uncle Nick McGlashan, who worked on the F/V Deep Sea, the first boat rumored to have pioneered the United States crab industry. the bio reads. Two of his aunts were also crabbers, unfortunately, one of them was lost in the sea in 1986.
Nick was not married but was in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend, Claire Hammond. They have two children together.

In 2017, Nick learned that he had a high white blood cell count leading people to believe he has cancer. This was then debunked as it ws proven he did not.
When he died, it was believedthat the cause of his death was overdose and alcohol or drug-related. He died at a Holiday Inn on West End Avenue. When the first responders arrived, he was already deceased.

Nick McGlashan began appearing on “Deadliest Catch” in 2013. He worked on ships including Summer Bay and Cape Caution. Aside from the main show, he also appeared on the spin offs including “Deadliest Catch: Greenhorn,” “Deadliest Catch: The Bait,” “Bering Sea Gold,” and “Deadliest Catch: Captain vs. Captain.”
