He went to high school in Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansang, Illinois. In Thornton Fractional High is where his football career started. This is a monumental moment in his life.
After he graduated from high school, he was recruited by the University of Illinois. He led the team in rushing for three seasons. In 40 games he ran for 2,545 yards and ranked 6th all-time in Illinois history and 20 touchdowns.
He had 57 catches for 411 yards and 3 touchdowns, and a total of 4,451 all-purpose yards which was the second all-time at Illinois at that time.
Even with this performance, he was not drafted in the 2007 NFL Draft.

Professional Career
Pierre Thomas got signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. He was recommended by the special teams coach, Greg McMahon, who had previously been an assistant coach at Illinois where Thomas played.
He proved to be impressive and a good fit for the team in the preseason games so the Saints decided to keep him in the end.
Thomas’ rookie year was not so impressive as he logged only 79 touches all year. He has his first touchdown in his professional career when the Saints played against their rival, the Atlanta Falcons. When his team was ridden with injuries, Thomas had a breakthrough game and finished the game with 226 yards from scrimmage and had his second touchdown.
In 2009, after starting the season with an injury, he had the best performance of his career in week 2. In the NFC Championship Game against the Minnesota Vikings, Pierre Thomas finished with 99 yards and 2 touchdowns in a narrow 31-28 overtime win that sent them to Super Bowl XLIV. He helped the Saints win against Indianapolis Colts which marked the first championship in their team’s history.
In the 2010 season, he suffered from ankle injuries making the team lose 6 games. Nonetheless, he bounced back the next season.
On March 4, 2015, the New Orleans Saints released Thomas, making him a free agent. On November 3, 2015, he was signed by the San Francisco 49ers and was released after only a game. On December 11, 2015, Thomas was signed by the Washington Redskins.
