Jackie Guerrido was born on September 24, 1972, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she also grew up and attended school.
It was stated by Guerrido that her mother was mistreated and abused by her father, so along with their mother, she and her sister stayed in a shelter called “Casa Protegida Julia de Burgos.” It is a domestic violence shelter in San Juan. They sought shelter there when she was only seven years old.
They relocated to The Bronx in New York City after she graduated from high school.
She studied meteorology at the University of Miami, a private university located in Coral Gables, Florida. Moreover, she studied journalism at the University of Florida.
Professional Career
Guerrido settled in Miami even after she got her degree. This is also where she started her career.
She worked on WSKQ’s morning show, “El Vacilon de la Mañana” (“Good times in the morning”). She also received an offer from WRMA (106.7) in Miami, which she accepted.
Jackie Guerrido also joined the HBC Radio Company where she hosted a radio program. She was tasked to broadcast news and traffic conditions.
She was given her own music show at WRTO (98.3). She began appearing on TV for WSCV as a traffic report. During this time, she worked in both TV and radio.
Univision offered her to become the meteorologist for “Al Amanacer de Noticias 23” or (“Morning News at Channel 23”) on WLTV, A Univision affiliate.
