Blackpink is a South Korean girl group under YG Entertainment. The group has four members and they debuted in August 2016 with their album “Square One.” The album featured “Whistle” and “Boombayah.”
Jennie was the first member of the group to be revealed on June 1, 2016. The second was Lisa on June 8, 2016. The third member was Jisoo, revealed a week later, followed by the last one, Rose. They are the first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment in seven years, following the hugely popular girl group 2NE1.
Blackpink released their second single album called “Square Two” which consists of songs “Playing with Fire” and “Stay,” on November 1, 2016.
Blackpink became very successful just several months after its debut. They earned a number of rookie awards in Korean award shows including the Asia Artist Awards, Melon Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, Seoul Music Awards, and Gaon Chart Music Awards.

Twice History
Twice is managed by JYP Entertainment. The South Korean girl group was formed under the television program Sixteen and debuted on October 20, 2015, Twice has 9 members. They gained fame with their debut single “Cheer Up” in 2016 which peaked at number 1 on the Gaon Digital Chart. It was hailed as the best-performing single of the year and won “Song of the Year” at the Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards.
In 2017, Twice became the first female Korean group to top both Billboard’s World Albums and World Digital Song Sales charts at the same time, with their first studio album “Twicetagram” and its single “Likey.”
They released their single called “Feel Special” in 2019. With the song, Twice became the third female Korean act to place on the Canadian Hot 100. JYP Entertainment partnered with Republic Records for the American promotion of the group’s songs.
