Alex Backus was born and raised in the United States. She was born on December 9. She is from Turlock, California where she spent her childhood and most of her early adult years.
Moving on to her educational background, Backus went to the California State University where got her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies/Public Relations with a minor in Journalism. She also obtained the honorary title of Summa Cum Laude. Moreover, In 2012, she was named Outstanding Student of the Year. .

Alex Backus interned with KCRA in Sacramento, California for 9 months. Afterwards, she worked at KHSL-TV in Chico-Redding California as a morning reporter. For four years, she was a morning reporter and a news reporter at KGPE-TV in Fresno, California.
She also worked at KRTV in Great Falls, Montana where she served as a reporter and producer.
Currently, Backus is working at KLAS-TV as a news anchor for 8 News Now. She joined the TV station in August 2019. She co-hosts the morning show every Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 in the morning.
Backus hosted the Miss California pageant in 2017 and 2018.
Aside from her career in journalism, she also previously worked as an Assistant Events Coordinator at Two Guys Catering for three years.

Alex Backus has shared her battle with Celiac disease which is also referred to as celiac sprue or gluten-sensitive enteropathy. It is an autoimmune and digestive disorder which damages the small intestine. It is an immune reaction to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley.
Alex suffered from diarrhea and abdominal pain because of the disease.
