Through his knowledge of the city, he was able to create “The Strip” which was a series of escape routes to escape the police. In April 1987, while he was in Las Vegas, he met a Los Angeles drug dealer named Melvin Butler supplied him with Colombian cocaine at a low cost.
At only 22 years old, he had already earned millions because of his drug business. There was a point when Edmond’s estimated profit was estimated to be $300 million annually. In one year, his cocaine empire employed 150 people and committed 30 murders
Rayful Edmond III was arrested in 1989 when he was 24 years old. He was found guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. His mother, Constance Perry] was also sentenced to 14 years in prison for being involved in his son’s organization. Many of his siblings and cousins were also charged.
Even when he was in the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary, he still continued to sell drugs. He, along with his two associates, was charged after they were alleged to have bought around 1,000 to 1,200 kilograms of crack cocaine per week. They acquired the drugs from the Trujillo-Blanco brothers who were associated with the Medellin cartel and related to the “Cocaine Godmother” Griselda Blanco.
