Jaggi Vasudev is an Indian yogi, author, and public speaker. He has been teaching yoga in southern India since 1982. He is better known as Sadhguru and he established the Isha Foundation.

Personal Life
Jagadish “Jaggi” Vasudev or more commonly known as Sadhguru was born on September 3, 1957 in Mysore, Karnataka in the country of India. His parents are Susheela Vasudev who is a homemaker, and Dr. B.V. Vasudev who is a physician, an ophthalmologist, at the Mysore Railway Hospital. He is the youngest of five siblings.
At 13 years old, he took yoga lessons from Malladihalli Raghavendra everyday throughout his teen years but he had no spiritual aspirations at that time. When he was young, it was said that Vasudev was a nature lover and loved forest trekking.
Jaggi Vasudev studied at Demonstration School in Mysore and Mahajana Pre-University College. He finished his college education at the University of Mysore with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
Professional Career
Vasudev’s first business was a poultry farm in Mysore. While building the farm, he also got into the construction business with a company called Buildaids.
At 25 years old, he temporarily left his businesses to his friend and traveled for about one year. On September 23, 1982, he rode up on Chamundi Hill and sat on a rock. He said that this is where he experienced his first spiritual awakening.
In 1983, he taught his first yoga class in Mysore. After some time, he also began teaching yoga classes in Karnataka and Hyderabad.
In 1992, Vasudev founded the Isha Foundation, a non-profit spiritual organization located near the city of Coimbatore. Until now, he remains the head of Isha Foundation which is almost run entirely by volunteers. It offers a yoga program called “Isha Yoga.” It also conducts meditations, discourses, Q and As, and annual pilgrimages.
As an author, he wrote “Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy,” “Adiyogi: The Source of Yoga,” “Pebbles of Wisdom,” and “Three Truths of Well-being.”
