Heather Mcdonald was born and raised in San Fernando Valley in California. Her parents are both real estate agents. 

Heather, together with her siblings grew up quite comfortably. They grew up Catholic and they went to a private Catholic school.  After graduating from high school, Heather studied at the University of Southern California or USC. 

In the university, she became a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She also took part in local stage plays, including the “Legend of Horseface”.

After earning her degree from USC, she started to take theater classes at The Groundlings, which is a comedy sketch and improvisational troupe. It is based in Los, Angeles, California.

During this time, she also became a licensed realtor like her parents.

McDonald is currently married to Peter Dobias. The couple has three children together named Drake, Brandon, and McKenzie. McKenzie is her husband’s daughter from his first marriage. Their family resides in Los Angeles, California.

Professional Career

After graduating from USC, Heather McDonald started taking acting lessons but is more popular for her comedy bits.

Her career began in the late 1990s, Heather started writing with Keenan Ivory Wayans, who is a prominent actor and comedian. In the years 2001 and 2002, she became a writer and a performer for MTV’s Lyricist Lounge. 

She was a writer, a producer, and a regular on E!’s “Chelsea Lately” since it began in 2007 and for its seven-year run. She also starred in “After Lately” a mockumentary series for three seasons.

She appeared on Frasier, Reno 911!, Quintuplets, Malcolm in the Middle, White Chicks, Dance Flick, and other shows.

Her debut stand-up special “I Don’t Mean To Brag” was shown on Showtime but was later acquired by Netflix.  In June 2015, Heather McDonald’s stand-up special, “Juicy Soop” premiered on Amazon Prime Video recently and was very well-received.

She mostly does stand-up comedy in Los, Angeles but also headlines show in clubs and theatres across America.
