The company is a former independent developer which was acquired by Chinese tech company Tencent in May 2018. The Chinese company then published the studio’s sole title, Path of Exile, in China, not including Hong Kong and Macau. In January 2013, the open-beta build of Path of Exile was released worldwide and the 1.0 version of the game was released in October of the same year.
GGG developed Path of Exile, which was released worldwide on October 23 2013. During the open beta, more than 46,000 people participated.
In 2018, Tencent became a majority holder in GGG, and acquired 86.67% of the company’s shares. There are three original co-founders who hold the remaining 13.26%. Two of the co-founders also sit on the board of directors, with 3 more appointed by Tencent in April 2018.
