The net worth of Gordon Ryan is around $3 million. He is considered one of the greatest  submission grapplers. He’s a three–time ADCC World champion and a two-time IBJJF No-Gi World champion.

He owns a huge mansion in Texas along with numerous cars. As a result of a very successful career in grappling, he was able to provide a good life for his family. He bought his father a brand new Cadillac CtSv and his mom a new house in Florida.

He also has a gym in Texas where he teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes.

Personal Life

Gordon Ryan was born on July 8, 1995 in Monroe Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. His hometown is a part of the outer-ring suburbs of the New York metropolitan area. The submission grappler is currently 27 years old. His brother, Nicky Ryan, is also a submission grappler.

Ryan began grappling when he was only 15 years old. He trained under Miguel Benitez before switching coaches and training under John Danaher, Tom DeBlass and Garry Tonon.

Professional Career

Gordon Ryan started competing and won the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) World No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship as a brown belt. After having his brown belt for six months, he won the Newaza Challenge and the World Championship. This led to him being awarded his black belt by Garry Tonon in February 2016.

Ryan won the Eddie Bravo Invitational Championship on April 24, 2016, when he defeated then-world champion Yuri Simões and another famous grappler Rustam Chsiev. He then faced and won over Keenan Cornelius in a no time limit, submission only match. 

At the ADCC World Championship in September 2017,  he took gold in the -88 kg weight category, winning over Dillon Danis, Romulo Barral, Xande Ribeiro, and Keenan Cornelius. He also won the silver medal in the absolute division, where he lost to Felipe Pena in the championship match.

In September 2018, Gordon Ryan joined the IBJJF Pan No-gi, winning both in his weight class and in the absolute division all by submission. 

In Quintet’s 2018 Tournament, he led Team Alpha Male’s victory. He won over Josh Barnett and Marcos Souza which allowed Team Alpha Male to advance to the finals. Ryan defeated Craig Jones and Vítor Ribeiro, both by submission, giving their team the championship. Aside from this, he also competed at the IBJJF Nogi Worlds in California where he took home the gold in his weight class and in the absolute division.

In 2019, he tore his LCL and popped his knee multiple times during a fight against Joao Gabriel. He also injured his hand in a motorbike accident.

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed that Gordon Ryan had signed a contract with the company on March 22, 2021.

He temporarily retired from grappling due to a health condition called Gastroparesis or delayed gastric emptying.
