They got their produce from local farmers in the Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes, and also in the French Market in New Orleans. J.P. Rouse’s son, Anthony Rouse Sr., helped in the company as soon as he grew up. He took over the company when his father died in 1954. He opened a 7,000-square-foot grocery store in Houma, Louisiana. In 1974, they started to work on their second store and the following year, the store was opened in Thibodaux.
With the continuous boom of their business, they continued to expand all over South Louisiana. Donald became a managing business around this time, together with his brother, Tommy.
