Her parents are Carla and David Mayfield. Carla works in the entertainment industry. She also has a brother who used to rap.
Her grandmother gave her the nickname “Bre-Z” when she was a baby because she would not stop crying until a window was shut, hence the term “breezy.” She just knew it was not her real name when she was in elementary. In sixth grade, she had a passion for music and she knew that she wanted to have a career in that industry.
In 2005, Bre-Z finished her high school education. She then went to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida for college. She moved to Atlanta in 2008 when her mother found a job there.
