He won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921. His works have been the pillar of scientific education.

Personal Life

Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 in Ulm, Württemberg, Germany. His father was Herman Einsteinwho worked as an engineer and a salesman. His mother, Pauline Koch was a housewife. Albert has a younger sister named Maria. When he was five, he first encountered a compass, which he was amused by. This started his curiosity for invisible forces. In 1880, their family moved to Munich. His father, with his uncle, established an electrical equipment company called Elektrotechnische Fabrik J. Einstein & Cie.

Their business was sold to another company in 1894. After this the family moved to Italy. Einstein stayed in Germany to finish his studies and followed his family after.

From a young age, he excelled in Math and Physics. At 12, he had his own proof of the Pythagorean theorem. A medical student, Max Tulmey or Talmud, became his tutor. When he was 16, Max introduced him to the children’s book “Naturwissenschaftliche Volksbucher” which would dominate his thinking for several years because the author imagined that the light was traveling inside a wire.

Einstein took the entrance examinations for the Swiss Federal polytechnic school in Zurich and got admitted.

In the same year, his paper “Conclusions from the Capillarity Phenomena” was published. He completed his thesis entitled “ A New Determination of Molecular Dimensions” in 1905, and earned his PhD in 1906.

In 1908, he became a lecturer at the University of Bern and was considered a leading scientist. In 1909, he was appointed associate professor. In 1911, he became a professor at Charles-Ferdinand University in Prague and obtained Austrian citizenship. The following year, Einstein returned to Zurich, and taught at  ETH Zurich.

From 1916 to 1918, he was elected president of the German Physical Society. In 1920, he became a Foreign Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 1921, he received a Nobel Prize for Physics.
