Personal Life
Sushant Singh Rajput was born on January 21, 1986, in Patna in the state of Bihar. His parents are Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh. His father is a retired technical officer at Bihar State Handloom Corporation also in Patna. He has five siblings and was the youngest among them. During his childhood he was called by the nickname Gulshan.
He studied at the St. Karen’s High School in his hometown. His family later relocated to Delhi when his mother unfortunately died in 2002. Sushant Singh Rajput attended Kulachi Hansraj Model School where he completed his high school studies.
Rajput was very interested in astrophysics and even won the National Olympiad in Physics. For college, he got accepted to Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) to get a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. However, Sushant stated that he was not interested in Engineering but his family wanted him to pursue it. He, himself, wanted to be an astronaut and an airforce pilot.
It was also reported that he was a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan, a prominent Indian actor and director, that’s why he got interested in Bollywood.
He committed suicide by hanging in his home in Mumbai. He was 34 when he died.
Professional Career
During his time in college, he started attending classes under the theater director Barry John. When he was in fourth year, he opted to drop out. He joined Nadira Babbar’s theater group called the Ekjute and was a member for over two years.He was spotted by a casting team of Balaji Telefilms while he was at the Prithvi Theatre. He was called to audition and then secured the role of Preet Singh Juneja, in the series, “Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil” in 2008.
His breakthrough role was in “Pavitra Rishta” where he was cast as Manav Deshmukh. His leading lady was Ankita Lokhande. He won his first best actor award in the 2010 Indian Television Academy Awards.
In 2013, he starred in “Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!” Rajput was also picked to play the Indian Cricket team captain’s biopic entitled “M.S.
