Steve Kazee is an American actor and singer. He is famous for portraying Guy in the musical “Once” for which he received the 2012 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.

Steve Kazee was born on October 30, 1975, in Ashland, Kentucky where he also grew up. He went to Fairview High School and then attended Morehead State University for his bachelor’s degree.

Steve Kazee started his theater career in June 2005 when he appeared in the New York Shakespeare Festival’s “As You Like It.” After, he made his Broadway debut in “Seascape” in November 2005 as the Leslie understudy. In January 2006, he played Timmy Cleary in “The Subject Was Roses.”
In 2006, he was chosen as the replacement for Sir Lancelot opposite Audra McDonald in Monty Python’s “Spamalot” on Broadway. In 2007, Kazee starred as Bill Starbuck in the “110 in the Shade” revival. In 2008, he played Sobinsky in “To Be Or Not To Be” which was shown at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Steve starred in the stage adaptation of “Once” as Guy. It first started Off-Broadway but began previews on Broadway on February 28, 2012. Because of his role in “Once,” he won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. He and the cast also won Best Musical Theater Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards
Kazee also starred in the stage adaptation of the 1990 film “Pretty Woman” with Samantha Barks. He left the production after their show in Chicago due to personal reasons.
