Professional Career
Shortly after they began selling drugs in the 1970s, they started trafficking cocaine with the help of the drug cartels in Colombia. Both Magluta and Falcon had established networks in major US cities such as New York and Washington D.C.
Pretty soon, the pair had become the Cocaine Cowboys. However, their journey at the top would all come crashing down in the mid-1990s. Both Magluta and Falcon were arrested and indicted by a federal grand jury in 1991 for many drug trafficking crimes.
It involved 75 tons of cocaine being transported from Colombia to the United States. In 1996, the two were found not guilty after a long trial.
However, Magluta would soon find himself in legal trouble again. In 1997, he was sentenced to nine years in prison for bail jumping and falsifying documents. He was placed on trial in 2002 for charges involving obstruction of justice in connection with the deaths of key witnesses, money laundering, and bribing jurors.
Of the 39 counts he faced, he was guilty of 12. He was sentenced to 205 years in prison. Currently, he is incarcerated at the Supermax Prison in Florence, Colorado.
