They formed a band called Los Cangris and released a couple of hit singles, including Sentirte, En la Cama, Sabanas Blancas, and Guaynabo. Nicky Jam released 2 solo albums while he was still a part of the band. Haciendo Escante was his first album in 2001, and Vida Escante, his second album in 2004. However, his alcohol and drug abuse put an end to his friendship with Daddy Yankee. The band split in 2004.
