Maxo Kream was born Emekwanem Ogugua Biosah Jr. in Houston, Texas on March 29, 1991. He grew up in Alief, Texas which is a working-class suburb in Southwest Harris County. He was raised by his African-American mother and Nigerian father.
Even at a young age, Maxo got involved in a lot of trouble. He became a part of the 52 Hoover Gangster Crips when he was only 12 years old. Maxo began rapping when he was in high school, as part of the group Kream Clicc.
When he was 13, his brother was put in prison for aggravated robbery. Their father was also in jail during this time.
He became famous after releasing a remix of Kendrick Lamar’s “Rigamortus” on his YouTube in 2012.

His third mixtape entitled “#Maxo187” was released on March 5, 2015, by TSO Records. It garnered attention from XXL Magazine and Pitchfork. It included the lead single “Cell Boomin” featuring Father. The mixtape has guest appearances by Fredo Santana, Joey Bada$$, and other well-known artists.
