Personal Life

Eric Sim was born in Singapore. His father was a street food vendor who sold prawn noodles in the famous Singapore hawker center. When he was in high school, he did not do so well as he failed in English and Literature.

Sim went to the National University of Singapore where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 1995. He then graduated from Lancaster University with a Master of Science in Finance in 1997. In 2000, he applied to Princeton University for his PhD degree but was rejected. 

Professional Career

Eric Sim began his professional career with DBS Bank in Singapore. Afterwards, he got a job at Stanford Chartered Bank and Citi in Shanghai and Hong Kong before finally joining UBS Investment Bank.

The author is currently a guest Lecturer at Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He also speaks at various career conferences including TEDx.

He wrote the book titled “Small Actions: Leading Your Career to Big Success” which was published by World Scientific Publishing.

He founded the Institute of Life where experts teach young professionals to further their career. They have many programs like Investment and Private Banking, Risk Management, Sales and Trade, and more. They also talk about how to achieve success in your career like focusing on Health and fitness, Work-Life Integration, Building Your Network, Negotiation Skills, Time Management, Work Ethics, among others.
